Iowa Fun

We had such a fun weekend in Iowa! We didn't do much, but we had great weather and got to see lots of the relatives. Both sets of great-grandparents came out, and great-aunt Lori was there too. Jordan and Nathan went golfing so grandma T and I took the boys outside to play in the yard. Then everyone converged at the house, and finally we made a trip to Great-grandpa T's farm.

Eli found the tractor first and couldn't leave it alone. He pointed, and "oooh"ed at it until we put him on it. He was in high heaven.

Baker smiled, but wasn't as excited about sitting on it.

I got bit!

So last weekend was the big Ames High School Class of 2000 10 year class reunion back in Iowa. I went, I saw, I was pressured into a facebook page. So now I've been bitten by the facebook page. If you know me, I've sworn against it and how much I despise it, so it's a little uncharacteristic of me to sign up. Anyway, it's been a little bit fun seeing all these people I know, all connected in one location. Hopefully I won't get too consumed by it.

So I WAS going to post all my pictures from my weekend at the runion, but then I realized that I didn't take any pictures when we went home to see my folks. But I have found a couple from the last week, and a video too. Check it out.

P.S., two days ago my parents and friends whom all live in Ames were hit by the worst flood ever to hit in the city's history. There is no drinking water, other than what is being brought in via trucks (because a water pipe below the river burst which was the source for drinking water), all but about one back road into/out of Ames are blocked with rivers out of their banks, so many are stranded in Ames, and some are without power. Please keep them in your thoughts this week as they struggle to keep "afloat." There has already been one tragic death, and hopefully there won't be anymore. For those of you who know the area, Hilton's basketball floor is floating inside the building. (there goes my parents season ticket seats--they're currently underwater). Here's a quick video made yesterday, which doesn't even show the worst of the flooding if you can believe it.

The boys got a "tour" of the work truck. They were so excited to sit in the big chair. And, they love their Daddy so much!

And Mom and Dad went shoe shopping this weekend while the boys were shipped of to Grandma and Grandpa T's. They have really been enjoying the shoe-boxes.

4th of July Weekend

We had a great weekend in Iowa visiting the Wrights over the 4th of July. Aunt Megan was able to come home before her big move to Arizona, and Aunt April was home from Texas. Don't have much to say today, but here's some pictures from our trip.

Aunt Megan got the boys a cute story book about art, so she sat down to read it...Eli was the only one who would listen.

Aunt Megan gave Eli his first piano lesson. He's a natural of course--his parents are so musical and all...

So the city my parents live in just got a new, really awesome, water park, so of course we had to take the boys to it. April, Jordan, and I ventured to the water park on Tuesday and had a great time. The boys had fun in the water "swimming" back and forth between the adults. Then April and Jordan went down the 3 giant water slides that they had. They say they were pretty fun. Hopefully some day we can go back and check out the lazy river.

All in all it was a GREAT 4th of July weekend and it was really hard having to come home and go to work. Hope you all had the same!

Swimming and Haircuts

We have had some amazing warm weather so far this summer, so of course we had to get out the pool. The boys have really been enjoying the water on hot days. We have also taken the boys to the local pool a couple of times now since it's only two blocks away, and they seem to love that! The water's a little cold at first, but they love to walk around in the shallow end, and play with the bubble fountains. I couldn't believe it, but they even have been putting their faces in the water. Sometimes it's on accident, but they don't seem to mind too much, but they were also trying to blow bubbles in the water. I tried to take this little video of Eli in our front yard, but Baker was being a little bit of a camera hog so it didn't end up being too long. It's just so funny how they are soooo proud of everything they do right now, you can see it all over their face. We love it!

So we finally decided that we really needed to get Eli a haircut. Neither of us wanted to get it done because we adore his long blonde hair, but it was time. We knew it was time because when Eli looks at things, he has to raise his chin in the air and then look down with his eyes to see underneath all of his hair. So a "trimming time" it is. When we got to the place, we saw a beautician walking in who looked half-asleep and un-enthusiastic to be at work. She then called our names and asked who wanted to go first. Quickly I said, and quite directly..."Go ahead Jordan, you can go first. I'll wait with the boys." There was no way I was going to let that girl butcher my kid's first haircut. And luckily we waited for the next stylist because she was amazing. I ended up having to sit in the chair and holding both Eli and Baker, and she was so very patient with us. Eli sat very still and did great. Jordan said his stylist kept saying to him "I don't know why this side is longer than that side. Hmmm, I don't know what to do... I must have cut them uneven... I don't know..." and then she went on to say "You're really lucky he[Eli] got her[the stylist] because I'm not very good with kids' hair. She's really good though." So needless to say, we dodged a bullet. And because she did such a good job, I had her trip the sides of Baker's hair so it didn't look so wonky anymore. All in all, a good experience.
