On the move.

Sometimes I wonder what we do with our days. Where do they go? It's already the end of April, and I feel like I can't remember what's happened the last 4 months. And it's not to say that we haven't been busy, but we've been busy with every day antics and nothing too special. Lots of playing, going on walks, swinging on our new swing set, and you'll see some others in the pictures. So, quick recap: Baker is fully walking everywhere now, rarely crawling, while Eli is now starting to walk more, and half the time crawls. The biting has gotten very very minimal for now, with the exception that occasionally they bite themselves when they're eating-ouch, watch out for those fingers. They yell and babble all the time, but still no real words. We're pretty sure they know who "dada" is, "mama" is still questionable, but they definately know "Nahla" (also known as "Nada"), and their stuffed animals "Nee-naw" and "Ba." When they get sleepy we ask them where their stuffed animal is (calling it by name) and they scan the room until they see it, walk/crawl to get it, and then come back to us to snuggle up and get ready for bed. Baker is learning to give kisses when you ask and will walk over to whoever you ask and give that person/dog, a kiss--very cute! Eli is learning how to blow kisses, but really just puts his hand over his mouth with a big smile on his face--we haven't quite figured out that you have to make the kissing sounds and then take your hand away from your face, but we know what he means. But they are just so fun right now and love to laugh. Wish you all could see them every day! Here's a few pictures.

My Big Fat Birthday Weekend

I want to start out by thanking everyone for the nagging e-mails and phone calls about not getting pictures put up yet from the birthday party...and I'd just like to thank Mike for sending us pictures in the mail so that we could now post some, since we didn't take any pictures on our own camera. Moving on... So we did, in deed, have a big weekend. We not only celebrated Easter, but the boys were also baptized, and we celebrated their first birthday. We were so fortunate to have both sets of grandparents, and both sets of great-grandparents come, as well as Lindsey's sister and brother-in-law, Megan and Andrew.

We started off the weekend with an Easter Egg Hunt at the Cider Mill outside of town on Saturday. Since the boys weren't walking, we watched the other kids scramble for eggs and we got their picture taken with the Easter Bunny. It went only as well as we thought it would.
Then we went back home and it seems like in no time, everyone started showing up for the weekend. We all went out to eat at a terribly tacky restaurant here in town, but the food was pretty good. Here's the group shot (always a tradition in this family--cause everyone wants to see what you ate--right?).
Then, on Easter morning, the boys got to open their Easter baskets. I guess I'm turning into the crazy mom because I started to notice that everyone else brought the boys chocolate and candy in their Easter baskets, and our Easter Bunny brought toothbrushes. Yes, so when they eat all that sugar, then they can brush their teeth. Oh well, they loved everything, even the toothbrushes!
Their baptism went really well. The boys just kind of sat there and listened, so we were really proud of them for not screaming. It was a special moment in all of our lives so we were glad it went well.
And now lets skip to the party. The most fun of the whole weekend-I thought. We had a lot of fun turning our garage into a party room. The boys were getting pretty hungry and uninterested in opening the gifts, so Jordan and I mostly did it ourself. But they loved all of their gifts. And then of course, the cake...I mean, smurf time. As you can see, they both had a great time, and each ate almost their entire cake. We saw blue for a couple days after (and I won't go into any more detail than that-but you can probably imagine), but have since recovered. Well, all but their clothes, they didn't really ever recover from the blue.
And here's Eli's new favorite toy. This just proves to me the reason why I shop at consignment sales. We can hardly get him away from his police rocker.
Also, both of the boys are walking now. Baker is walking all over the place, and Eli is not far behind, but can't quite get his feet to follow his body. We've tried over and over to get it on video, but if they realize that the video is on, they turn into spaghetti and fall to the ground. Hopefully soon we'll have a video for you. Stay tuned.

New pictures

We took a few more pictures this week. First just playing around and then in their new jammies. Thought I'd share.

Enough Already!

The last week or two have been rough. We started on Valentine's Day by cutting some teeth, and I suppose that kicked off the last couple weeks of excitement. A few days later, the boys were crawling around in the kitchen and they found Nahla's fire-hydrant where we keep her food. Needless to say, Nahla didn't get much for dinner after the boys were done... I tried to get the food out of one hand, and another hand was reaching for more, by the time I got to that hand, I saw another in the food, and this cycle went on for only about 60 seconds before I just threw my hands up and said to myself "I better just get the camera".

Our next fun adventure was when Eli started throwing up last Saturday, and had a slight fever. That was soon followed by Baker on Sunday, and by Jordan on Monday. Thankfully, I managed not to get sick, but I don't think my dodging skills were quite on point, because I wasn't quick enough to miss getting puked on 3 times. Yes, not once, not twice, but three times the charm. As Jordan was concerned, he mostly took care of himself, but I had baby duty round the clock, with Jordan helping if/when he could. We made it through though, but hope we don't have to do this again for a long time.

Caught in the act. (Notice Nahla's just watching so pathetically because she knows she can't eat until we say "okay", what a good girl.)

Eli sleeping with Baa his little lamb.

Trying to cheer them up by reading a bedtime story.

Snuggling on the couch. This is all we did from Saturday until Thursday.

Jordan had to sleep in the spare bedroom so when we woke up I put the boys in bed with him. All three of them were like zombies. The boys didn't move a muscle for hours. It was really sad.

Here's one of the happier moments after the boys started feeling better. They definately got their appetites back, but Eli also gained an appetite for snacking on little boys named Baker. Yes, we've begun biting. Twice now (that we know of) and Baker has quite the nast blood blisters on his ear to prove it. Watch out Evander Holyfield, Eli's on the loose.

My how time flies

It's been a month now since we've blogged last. I guess with the holidays coming and going we must have lost track of time. Here's the short recap... A few days after we blogged, Jordan had a work accident which kept him off of work for about a week and a half. Fortunately for us, his being off of work helped us so we could spend more time with our families over Christmas. Lindsey's sister, April, was able to spend the week of New Years with us to help out with the boys and just play until she flew home New Years Day. We had a lot of fun. About a week later, Lindsey's little sister, Megan, and brother-in-law, Andrew, came to visit for a couple of days as well. Most recently, we also had Grandpa Tackett come to spend a day with his grandbabies. We've really enjoyed all of our visitors and love getting more time to spend with our families.

As far as the boys go, they are now 9 1/2 months old now and unimagineably mobile. Eli is army crawling everywhere and starting to get frustrated that he can't keep up with his brother. Sometimes he tightens up while he screams and shakes a little. We call it "the Hulk" face. Yikes, looks like he's going to have a real temper on him! As for Baker, he's standing up against furniture and using it to walk everywhere he can get to. It won't be long before he's standing on his own. Also, probably our favorite accomplishment is that we've gotten the boys off of their bottles and on to sippy cups. Wahoo! It took a little cohersion and some tears, but Jordan and I made it out okay--just kidding.

But now, for the fun stuff. Here are some pictures to make up for the last month that we haven't blogged. Hopefully it won't be too long before we do it again. Enjoy.

This is what Eli would look like if he were a girl. His hair is getting REALLY long.

Baker came down with a bad rash that covers his lower abdomen and is spreading all over. What a nightmare!
Eli after taking off the helmet for a little bit. His hair is all sweaty and he scratches at his head.

Grandpa T with his grandboys.

Just a typical day--Baker climbing on top of Eli and Eli just laying there letting him.

We caught Baker climbing up the stairs--looks like it's time for baby gates. Glad Nahla was there to make sure he didn't fall while mom and dad took pictures.

Cousin Sawyer driving the tractor with the boys on Christmas Eve. Love the matching jammies.

Tackett boys on Christmas Day.
Auntie April giving her favorite nephews one last squeeze before she goes through the terminal at the airport.

A little something to hold you over

So it seems that we haven't updated the blog for quite a while now. Not really sure what the excuse is but I'll try to quickly recap what's happened this month. Well, Baker has finally caught up to Eli and they now both have their bottom two teeth, and each working on a top tooth--yay for both of them teething at the same time and being needy, whiny, and needing to be held at the same time! Ah the joys of two at a time! Also, Baker started crawling, followed shortly by Eli crawling. Eli's still not to fond of moving around and is pretty content just hanging out in one spot, although he will move around if he wants something. Baker on the other hand is off like a flash, trying to get anywhere he can before we notice he's gone. Also, Baker quickly realized that he can pull up on furniture, legs, etc. so he can stand.
Here's a few photos to hopefully hold you over until after Christmas. Enjoy.

Aw, the sweet brothers, but usually Baker is beating up on Eli.

Since Eli got his helmet, his head has been extra smelly--much like that of a football helmet, hockey glove, athletic locker room, you get the picture--so we bathe him quite regularly. He loves it though.

Oh, they were so adorable when we went to see Santa. They were not afraid at all and were mesmerized by him. We did get a couple of smiles, but not at the same time. We just love this picture though.

Baker and his little devilish grin. Hmm...wonder what he's about to get into...

"I just called, to say, I love you..." This is what he would be singing if he had a theme song. He's just such a sweet little boy.

Just Fixin His Flat!

For those who don't know what it going on, let me catch you up. Eli was born with a flat spot on the back right side of his head. Many kids have flat spots from sleeping on one side all the time, but quickly grow out of them...but for those whose flat spot is a little more severe, they have to wear special helmets. Eli is in group B. Below are a few pictures with him in his helmet. He has to wear it 23 hours a day for as long as it takes to fix his flat spot. He doesn't mind it at all. It has actually saved a few bumps and scrapes from when he hit his head on things. If it wasn't so expensive, we would get one for Baker too...just to keep them both from hitting their heads too hard on certain things (like the floor after a 2 foot drop off the couch) Right now it is just plain white, but Lindsey has ordered paint and decals for it. I will post a few more when she gets it painted so you all can see the finish product.
